Creating and Managing Online Assignments

How to Create a New Assignment

1. Start with a Video: On any video page, click the Assignments button located on the right side.

**2. Choose Your Class: **Select an existing class or create a new one. Need help with this? Check out our guide on Creating a class and inviting students.

**3. Design the Assignment: **Define tasks for your students such as watching the video, taking a quiz, answering custom questions, and more.

4. Subtitle Settings: If you prefer, you can block subtitles to prevent students from using them.

5. Set a Deadline: Decide when the assignment should be completed by.

6. Go Live: Once you're ready, publish the assignment.

Note: Students with an Ilini account can directly access the assignment by logging in. For those without an account, a special link will be provided. More on this in the section below.

After the assignment deadline, you can easily review your students' submissions. Check video views, quiz scores, and go through any written assignments they've submitted.

Managing Your Assignments

  • View All Assignments: Click the agenda icon in the top bar to see a comprehensive list of assignments for all your classes.

  • **Class-specific Management: **For a more focused view, select a specific class from the top-right dropdown menu. This takes you to a dedicated classroom space where you can manage assignments, class memberships, and student invitations. For more details, see Creating a class and inviting students.

Student Access to Online Assignments

Ilini ensures a seamless experience for students. They can complete assignments from anywhere, even on their smartphones!

**1. Invite to Join: **Encourage students to create a free Ilini account and join your online classroom. Here are the instructions.

2. Assignment Notification: Once logged in, students will see a notification about the new assignment.

3. Accessing the Assignment: Students can click the notification or directly access the video's URL you provide. On the video page, they'll find the "Assignments" button to start their tasks.

Option 2: Share with Non-Ilini Account Holders

If you prefer not to have students create Ilini accounts, you can still share assignments:

**1. Special Link: **After publishing the assignment, a unique link will be available below the task summary.

**2. Student Access: **Upon clicking the link, students will enter their name and proceed with the assignment.

Remember: Even if you don't invite students to create their own account, you must create an online class to make assignments. This helps in organizing assignments and setting varied deadlines for different classes.

Pros: This method is ideal for a quick trial or if school policies restrict account creations. It's also handy for sharing assignments on platforms like Google Classroom without an additional login.

Cons: Without an Ilini account, students won't access features like the personal vocabulary notebook. Plus, they need to enter their names correctly to avoid multiple submissions.
