Creating a class and inviting students

Creating a class

After logging in to your account, click on "Add a class" in the top-right menu:

This will take you to the "Classes" page. Enter the name of your school and the name of your class, then click "Add class". Click on the green "Classroom" button to enter your class.

You may create as many online classes as needed, provided you have a teacher subscription. Different classes allow you to give different assignments and deadlines to different groups of students. If you tutor individual students, you may create a class per student. You should not invite all your students to the same class (unless you teach only one class, of course), otherwise you won't be able to differentiate their assignments and deadlines!

Inviting students

Once you've entered your newly created class, click on the "Students" tab. On the left column, you will find instructions to invite students.

Option 1: Give your students a class code

This is the best option if you are going through these steps together with your students, at school for example.

Click on "Show code" to display the code on your screen:

Tell your students to:

  • Create an account on www.ilini.com.
  • Click on "Join a class" in the top-right dropdown menu.
  • Apply the class code.

If you are sending them the code in writing (by email or through your platform of choice), you may include a link to our instructions for students in your message so you don't have to repeat them!

This is a good option if you are sending instructions in writing, by email or through any platform. It is similar to sending a class code, with the additional convenience that the code is already included in the registration link that you send them, and will be automatically applied.

  • Copy the link provided in your online class' page (left column).
  • Paste it in your message to your students.
  • Add a link to our instructions for students, and send your message!

Option 3: Send invitations from your classroom's page

This is another easy option, but you'll have to copy and paste email addresses one by one. Fine if you don't have too many!

  • Click on "Send an email invite"
  • Copy and paste each email address you want to send an invitation to.
  • Your students will receive a link taking them to an account creation page. Their account will be automatically linked to your class.

Tell your students to check their spam folder if they haven't received your invitation.
